B.B. King had been playing Gibsons for over 40 years when he and Gibson officially joined forces in 1982. B.B.'s personal touches on his signature model include the fine-tuner tailpiece, the semi-hollow body with no soundholes and, of course, the name that has adorned his guitars throughout his career Lucille.

Hello Mr King, my husband and i are recent fans of urself & lucille... we are currently saving to fly to Tuscon in order to attend one of your concerts... we both enjoy your music and agree that to see you and lucille perform live would be a highlight in our lives right now... thank you for your awesome music and ur dedication to your art.. be well & live large!!! see you in November... warm regards Mana & Cameron Budge
Too bad it's so expensive. It's still one of the best guitars made, I think. The Epiphone version is really good too. It would be cool if Epiphone made an exact copy of a Gibson ES-355 as well, for people like me who want f-holes. Anyway, great guitar!

and yeah, he talked more than he played, but I agree... it was awesome.
He is incredible and tells kick a$$ stories. The band is awesome. That is probably overuse of the word awesome here, but it is my 'Ultimate compliment' word, lol.
We were front row, and I was just in awe.
I do want to add, because I can get real 'nit picky' about grammar, the last sentence, at the end, where it says "and, of course, the name that adorned his guitars throughout his career Lucille" needs one more comma between the words career and Lucille.
I guess I need to s.t.f.u. and just bask in the afterglow of last nights concert (as I will for quite a while) and praise this man and his band for such talent! :)

I may have made a mistake, I believe that the initials are "RBK." It is very hard to make these out as the ink or whatever was used may have ran. Sorry.
I have a pretty unusual story to tell. Back in the 70's when I was a road musician., I was playing in Memphis TN for a couple of weeks. I ran into this old guy named "Boogie Man." He was truly a blues guitar player. He had a red ES-335 that said "Lucille II" on the stop tailpiece. I used to play an old sunburst ES-335 that I carried around in a VOX guitar case. Boogie Man gave me the case for my guitar. He said that it originally belonged to B.B. King. He had won the guitar and case from him in a card game. I used the case for years, even the entire time that I was in the United States Air Force Band. Here is the description of the case: It is an alligator case (with lots of duct tape). It has an orange plush interior. Behind where the headstock goes are the names of three women; "DENISE, LINDA, ANN. Below the storage compartment are the initials RBR. I am pretty sure that the last initial is an "R". Boogie man told me that the original Lucille had gotten burned up in fire in a nightclub or something to that effect. Can anybody validate this? My email is lches335@verizon.net
Thanks,
Larry Heatwole
did you name Lucile after a person i think you did and thats my aunt if you did i'm Aline Bass grandchild
I attended the King concert in Denver Colorado, on 4/11/08, and it was way cool! It was more of an evening with BB as he talked to the crowd. It didn't bother me that he only sand about 5 or 6 songs cause being in the same teatre with the King of the Blues was all that! The only thing that could have made the evening more special is if he gave me his guitar!!!
LUCILLE
Having some friends who work at GIBSON I was lucky enough to get a PROTOTYPE 80th birthday LUCILLE in ANTIQUE RED. This guitars has notonly gotten the attention of every collector in the area it has also gotten RILEY's attention. I have offered it to B many times in exchange for one of his older players, which soon will most likely happen. Until then this guitar has not only kept my career alive and gotten the attention of EVERY BB KING FAN, It is my PRIDE AND JOY, Before I would sell it I WOULD BE BURIED with it . For if it were not for growing up listening to my parents playing BB;s music I would have never ended up a BLUES MAN myself. THANKS B you are a great AMBASSADOR for the genre I love THE BLUES and the respect you show your audiences should be put into an instructioanl guide for allof today;s musicians; You truly are a gentleman, Thanks for everything you have taught me about the blues and how to be a HUMBLE MUSICIAN Respectfully James St James and The Blues Disciples
