“Case for Lucille II”

I may have made a mistake, I believe that the initials are "RBK."  It is very hard to make these out as the ink or whatever was used may have ran.  Sorry.

“Case for Lucille II”

I have a pretty unusual story to tell.  Back in the 70's when I was a road musician., I was playing in Memphis TN for a couple of weeks.  I ran into this old guy named "Boogie Man."  He was truly a blues guitar player.  He had a red ES-335 that said "Lucille II" on the stop tailpiece.  I used to play an old sunburst ES-335 that I carried around in a VOX guitar case.  Boogie Man gave me the case for my guitar.  He said that it originally belonged to B.B. King.  He had won the guitar and case from him in a card game.  I used the case for years, even the entire time that I was in the United States Air Force Band.  Here is the description of the case:  It is an alligator case (with lots of duct tape).  It has an orange plush interior.  Behind where the headstock goes are the names of three women; "DENISE, LINDA, ANN.  Below the storage compartment are the initials RBR.  I am pretty sure that the last initial is an "R".  Boogie man told me that the original Lucille had gotten burned up in fire in a nightclub or something to that effect.  Can anybody validate this?  My email is lches335@verizon.net
Thanks,
Larry Heatwole

“Great Time with BB”

I attended the King concert in Denver Colorado, on 4/11/08, and it was way cool! It was more of an evening with BB as he talked to the crowd. It didn't bother me that he only sand about 5 or 6 songs cause being in the same teatre with the King of the Blues was all that! The only thing that could have made the evening more special is if he gave me his guitar!!!

“SEXY”

SHE IS ONE SEXY INSTRUMENT!!

“Thanks”

I grew up listening to your LP'S from my mom and dad.As i grew i learned to Play the blues by listing to those same LP'S.As a boy and a man i got chances to play on great blues shows with some of your friend .If it wasn't for your LP'S I don't think i would have gotten that chance.I own a Right Handed Lucille now even though i play left handed guitars, I just had the nut, strings, and bridge reversed so i could play it.It gets a second look but works. Thank You Mr.B.B.King

“very very tasty guitar”

nice guitar there BB, i've seen /heard you play a few times over the years, and the tone and tasty licks i can still remember . as a guitar player myself, the approach is a major inspiration - kept simple, lyrical, funky, and soulful, and leave the shredding for the office paper mulcher. keep well. john
